NestCV is a free resume builder, cover letter builder and ATS resume checker. This policy explains what information we collect when you use them, what we use it for, which services process it for us, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language and to describe exactly what the site does.
By choosing to use NestCV, you're agreeing to the practices described in this policy. If you have questions or concerns at any time, please don't hesitate to contact us at support@nestcv.com.
What Information Do We Collect?
Information You Share With Us
When you use NestCV, you choose to give us:
- Resume and cover letter content: your name, contact details, links (such as LinkedIn or a portfolio), work history, education, skills and anything else you type in
- Account details, if you sign up: your email address and name, or the name and email of your Google account if you sign in with Google, and a profile photo if you upload one
- Reviews, if you leave one: the name, role, rating and text you enter. Reviews shown on the site are visible to everyone
- ATS checker ratings, if you give one: the stars and an optional comment, with the language and the time. No name or resume text. Only the average and the number of ratings are shown on the site. To allow one rating per visitor, we keep a one-way hashed (scrambled) form of your IP address together with the language for 30 days, then delete it; the IP address itself is not stored
- Messages you send us by email
Guest Users
Your data is stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage. It stays there across refreshes so you do not lose progress, and it is not saved on our servers unless you register. When you download a PDF, your resume is sent to our server only to create the file and is not kept. You can clear it anytime by clearing your browser's site data.
Registered Users
When you create an account, your resume is securely saved to our cloud database, allowing you to access and edit it from any device and create an optional shareable Live CV link.
What we do not keep
- ATS checker: the checks run in your browser. Text you paste never leaves the page. A PDF you upload is sent to our server only to extract its text, and the file is not stored.
- Cover letter builder: your draft is saved only in your browser. When you download the PDF, the letter is sent to our server to create the file and is not kept.
- PDF downloads: the content is used to create the file and is not stored. We record only which template was downloaded and when (and your account ID if you are signed in).
Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit NestCV, our hosting and the analytics tools described below (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) collect technical information such as:
- Browser type, version, and operating system details
- Device information (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- IP address (for security and analytics purposes)
- Pages you visit and the time spent on each page
- Date and time of your visits
- How you use pages, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement (recorded by Microsoft Clarity)
We use this to see which features people use, where they get stuck, and to find bugs and slow pages. We also keep simple usage counts: for each ATS check, the language, whether a job ad was added and the time; for each cover letter download, the template and the time. These counts contain no resume or letter content.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Let you create, save, edit and download resumes and cover letters, and check resumes in the ATS checker
- Publish your Live CV page, only if you turn it on
- Provide access to your saved resumes across different devices (for registered users)
- Keep your account secure and prevent unauthorized access
- Analyze usage patterns to improve our features and user experience
- Respond to your questions, feedback, or support requests
- Send account emails, such as email address verification
- After a registered user downloads a resume, send a short confirmation email and pass your name and email address to an independent review platform, which may email you an invitation to review NestCV. Leaving a review is optional
Your resume is not used for advertising
We never sell your personal data. The content of your resumes and cover letters is never used to choose ads and is never shared with advertisers. NestCV does not show ads at the moment. If we start, they will come from Google AdSense and be based on cookies, as described below.
How We Protect Your Data
Account data is stored with our hosting and database provider. It is protected by:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) to protect data in transit
- Secure authentication and access controls
- Database rules that let each signed-in user read and change only their own resumes and profile
- Restricted access to personal data (only authorized personnel)
No online service can promise perfect security. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us right away.
Services We Use
These companies process data to run parts of NestCV:
- Hosting and database provider: sign-in, the database for saved resumes, storage for profile photos, website hosting, and the servers that create PDF files and read text from uploaded PDFs
- Email provider: sends our emails
- Google Analytics: visit and usage statistics
- Microsoft Clarity: records how pages are used (clicks, scrolling, mouse movement) so we can find usability problems. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement
- Google AdSense: its code is on our pages, but no ads are shown at the moment (see Advertising below). See how Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Independent review platform: review invitations for registered users after a download
Some of these services store or process data outside your country, including in the United States.

Guest Users
If you choose to use our resume builder without creating an account, your information is stored locally in your browser's local storage.
- Saved locally on your device across refreshes, so you won't lose your draft
- Your resume is not saved on our servers; when you download a PDF it is sent to our server only to create the file
- Private to your browser: no public Live CV link and no access from other devices
- You can delete it anytime by clearing your browser's site data
Registered Users
Creating an account gives you the ability to save your work and access it from anywhere, anytime.
- Data is securely stored in our database
- Access to Live CV custom public links (e.g., nestcv.com/cv/your-name) to share your resume with employers
- Complete control to activate, deactivate, or delete your public resume link at any time
- Access your resumes and edit your details from any device
Advertising
NestCV is free. We have signed up for Google AdSense and its code loads on our pages, but we are not showing any ads at the moment. If we start, ads will keep the site free, and the following applies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Ads are never chosen using the content of your resumes or cover letters.
Your Privacy Rights
Your resumes and cover letters belong to you. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to some uses of it. Here is how to do that.
Access and Update Your Data
You can view, edit, and update your account information and resume content at any time through your dashboard. You choose exactly what to share, what to keep private, and how your career information is presented.
Account and Data Deletion
- One resume: delete it from your dashboard at any time.
- Your whole account: send a deletion request from your Dashboard under Account Settings. The form asks why you are leaving: pick a reason from the list, choose "Prefer not to say", or write your own. We then delete your login, saved resumes, Live CV link and profile photo, either right away or after 7 days (until then you can cancel from your profile). We do not send a confirmation email. If the reason says something that does not match what we do (for example that you paid us), we may ask you to explain before we go ahead. This cannot be undone.
- A published review: email us and we will remove it.
Guest Data
Guest drafts exist only in your browser. Clear your browser's site data for NestCV to delete them. We cannot see or delete them for you.
Analytics and Ads
Analytics (Google Analytics and Clarity) is optional. If the cookie notice is shown to you, it starts only after you press OK. You can switch it on or off at any time in the cookie settings on our Cookie Policy page, and switching it off deletes the analytics cookies already set. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings.
Other Requests
For a copy of your data, a correction, or any other privacy request, email support@nestcv.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
When we add a feature or a service that changes how data is handled, we update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes affecting registered users, we will also tell you on the site or by email.
Continuing to use NestCV after an update means you accept the updated policy.
