Cookie Policy

Every cookie and piece of browser storage NestCV uses, what it is for, and how to block or delete it.

This page lists the cookies and browser storage used on NestCV: the ones we set to make the site work, and the ones set by the analytics and advertising services we use.

What Cookies and Local Storage Are

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. Local storage is a similar feature that lets a site keep data in your browser, such as a draft you are working on. Both stay on your device; local storage is never sent to our servers on its own.

NestCV uses them for three things: to make the site work (signing in, saving drafts), to measure how the site is used, and to show ads.

What We Set Ourselves

These are needed for the site to work. They are not used for tracking or advertising.

Marks that you are signed in, so account pages such as your dashboard open. Removed when you sign out.

Keeps you signed in to your account. Stored in your browser by our sign-in service.

Remembers whether the dashboard sidebar is open or closed.

Your resume draft and design settings when you use the editor without an account. They are moved into your account if you sign up.

Your cover letter draft, so you can close the tab and continue later. "Start over" in the editor deletes it.

Whether we have already asked you for a review, so we do not ask again.

Google Analytics

What we use it for: counting visits, seeing which pages and tools are used and for how long, and which countries and devices visitors use, so we know what to improve. Cookies: _ga and _ga_<ID>, which keep a random visitor ID for up to 2 years. We use Google's consent signals, so Google Analytics stores this only when you allow analytics. Microsoft Clarity

What we use it for: seeing how pages are used, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and building heatmaps, so we can find where people get stuck and fix it. On the editors, the ATS checker, your dashboard and the sign-in pages, text on screen is masked, so what you type is not recorded. Cookies: _clck (up to 1 year) and _clsk (1 day), which keep a random visitor and session ID. It starts only when you allow analytics. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Google AdSense

What we use it for: showing ads that help pay for the free tools, once we turn them on. We are not showing any ads at the moment, but Google's code is on our pages and Google may set cookies. When ads are shown, Google and its partners use cookies to choose them based on your visits to this and other websites, and where you are asked, only after your permission. Ads will never be based on the content of your resume or cover letter.

  • Where people get confused or leave, so we can fix it
  • Pages that are slow or broken

We do not use analytics to build a profile of you, and we do not sell analytics data.

How to Block or Delete Cookies

In your browser

Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge let you block cookies and clear a site's data in their privacy settings. Clearing NestCV's site data also deletes any guest resume or cover letter draft saved in that browser.

Google Analytics

Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Personalised ads

Turn them off in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some other vendors at www.aboutads.info.

What Is Optional

Essential cookies and storage are needed to use the site: without them you cannot sign in, and guest drafts are not saved. They are always on.

Analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) is optional. If the cookie notice is shown to you, they start only after you press OK. You can switch them on or off below at any time; switching them off also deletes the analytics cookies already set in your browser. Advertising is not used at the moment (see Google AdSense above). Every feature of NestCV works the same either way, including the resume builder, the cover letter builder, the ATS checker and PDF downloads.

Updates to This Policy

When we add or remove a cookie, a type of browser storage or a third-party service, we update this page and the date at the top.
