How to Build a Resume Online, Step by Step

What to prepare before you start, and what happens in the editor.

Building a resume on NestCV takes three steps: pick a template, fill in your details, and download the PDF. The editor shows a live preview next to the form, so you see the finished page while you type.

Before you start, put your work history in one place: job titles, employers, start and end dates, and two to four results for each job, with numbers where you have them ("cut invoice errors by 30%", "handled 40 calls a day"). Open two or three job ads you want to apply for and note the skills they repeat. Those words belong in your skills and your bullet points.

Then choose where you want your draft to live. As a guest, it is saved in the browser you are using, and clearing your browser data deletes it. With a free account, it is saved online and opens on any device. You can start as a guest and sign up later; your draft moves into the new account.

Two common mistakes: listing every task you have ever done instead of your results, and choosing a heavily designed layout for a job you apply to through an online portal. Portals read the text of your PDF, and a simple single-column template is read most reliably.

Choose Continue as a guest or Create a free account above, then pick a template. The editor opens with sample content: replace it with your own name, contact details, work history, education and skills. When you are happy with the preview, click Download PDF.
Put education first, then internships, volunteer work, projects and part-time jobs. Write a two or three sentence summary that names the kind of role you want and the skills you can show. A project with a clear result ("built a booking site used by 20 students") counts as experience.
